Education Assistant

This diploma program focuses on preparing graduates for a career as an Education Assistant. This program provides graduates with a solid theoretical and practical skillbased foundation enabling them to assist students who have been identified as having exceptional educational needs and/or having developmental disabilities. As a team member you will provide behavioral support, learning assistance, personal care while facilitating inclusion, open communication and social interaction.


Program Length*

Full Time

  • 32 weeks (Including Practicum length)
  • 5 sessions per week
  • 5 hours per session

Work Experience

  • Total 7 weeks
  • 160 hours

Admission Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent or
  • Mature student status (British Columbia 19 years or older)
  • Meet the College’s English proficiency requirements


  • Education Assistant Diploma

  • Education Assistant teachers work with students who face various learning disabilities. They help them transition into regular classes and routines by helping them improve functionality.
